Buona Fortuna Lodge #2835 recently gathered for our Saturday Family Italian Dinner, an evening centered around one of our favorite Italian traditions — bringing family and friends together around the table.
Members and guests enjoyed a wonderful homemade Italian meal prepared by our own Ken and Phyllis Baker, featuring meatballs and sausage in red sauce with garlic knots, fresh salad, lasagna, cheese lasagna, Alfredo noodles with grilled chicken, panna cotta, and fresh fruit salad.
The evening was about much more than dinner. Members shared conversation, laughter, fellowship, and a little friendly fun with a 50/50 drawing and door prizes.
Our sincere thanks go to Ken and Phyllis for sharing their culinary talents with the Lodge and to everyone who helped with setup, check-in, serving, and cleanup.
Events like this reflect what Buona Fortuna is all about: celebrating our Italian heritage while strengthening the friendships and sense of famiglia that bring our Lodge together.
Buon cibo, buoni amici e famiglia!
Fall 2026 Charitable Giving: Nominate a Local Charity by October 1
Buona Fortuna is preparing for our Fall 2026 Charitable Giving awards, and members are invited to nominate a deserving local 501(c)(3) organization for consideration.
Nominations are due Thursday, October 1, 2026, and may be submitted through the Charity Request application on the Buona Fortuna website.
Your nominations help us continue putting the funds raised through Festa Italiana and our other community events to work supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in Northwest Florida.
Read on to learn how to submit your nomination, what information you’ll need, and which organizations are eligible for consideration.

If you would like to submit a charity (local 501(c)3 organization) for consideration in our Fall Charitable donations funding round, please submit your recommendations through the Buona Fortuna Charity Request application form.
To find the application on our website: go to the Buona Fortuna Lodge website; select "Charity" at the top right; scroll down to where it says: "Application"; click on the red text that says: "Charity Request".
Prior to accessing the application, we recommend that you search for the organization using this link, Tax Exempt Organization Search and search by Organization Name to obtain their EIN number and a copy of their determination letter. You should be prepared to submit this information along with the charity's website or Facebook page URL, their address, and contact information for the organization. Be sure to provide all necessary information, so our Charity Committee can make an informed decision.
Your volunteer efforts and participation at Gallery Night, Seafood Festival, and most importantly, Festa Italiana, help our Lodge raise funds for charitable purposes, including youth scholarships, local and regional non-profit organizations, Communities Caring at Christmas, and charities supported by our Florida Grand Lodge.
As we prepare for Festa Italiana this October, we’re inviting our members to volunteer and help make this year’s celebration our best yet. Your time and support directly strengthen our lodge, our heritage, and our community. If you can lend a hand, whether for an hour or a full day, we would truly appreciate it. We welcome and encourage members to invite their friends and family to volunteer with us. Festa Italiana is even more enjoyable when shared, and we appreciate every extra set of hands. Please reach out to Rosie Gasowski, Festa Volunteer Lead, at 850-384-5365, or myself. Grazie!
We appreciate your membership and all you do to support our efforts to not only give back to our community, but also share the abundant love of our Italian culture.

STRIKE! IN STILE ITALIANO
Buona Fortuna Lodge traded the bocce lanes for bowling lanes on Sunday, August 9, for our first-ever Bowling with Buona Fortuna! Nearly 35 members came out for an afternoon filled with friendly competition, laughter, cheering and plenty of Lodge camaraderie.
Read more about the fun, the prizes and who took home the top bowling honors!
Embracing not just our Italian heritage but also our American roots, Buona Fortuna Lodge members participated in our first-ever “Bowling with Buona Fortuna” on Sunday, August 9.
We traded in the warm, quiet sand or crushed stone of the bocce lanes and the small pallino for noisy, air-conditioned hardwood lanes and tall pins being attacked by heavy bowling balls! About 35 Lodge members joined us at DeLuna Lanes on Nine Mile Road for an indoor social gathering filled with friendly competition and lots of fun.
There was laughter, excitement, cheering and, of course, prizes. Who won??? Everyone who showed up for the event! But yes, there are more details…
Several Lodge brothers and sisters came to watch and socialize, while 24 active bowlers — young, not so young, and everything in between — took to the lanes. Most notably, FOTO was so well represented that we had to break up some of their group to even out the teams!
Each lane became a team of six, with prizes awarded to the top bowler on each team for each game. There were also awards planned for “turkeys” — three strikes in a row. Since we didn’t have any turkeys that afternoon, the bowler with the most strikes in each game received the award instead. And, of course, we had to recognize the highest-scoring bowler of the day.
Awards were presented to:
-
Rachelle Torjusen – High Score of the Day / High Game 1 / High Game 2 / Turkey Award
-
Gwendolyn George – High Game 1 / High Game 2 / Turkey Award
-
Diana Mancini – High Game 1 / High Game 2
-
Davis Kimble – High Game 1 (tie)
-
Stephen Robbins – High Game 1 (tie), guest of Patricia Oliverio
-
Mary Summers – High Game 2
It was a great afternoon, and we hope to do it again!
Thank you to everyone who came out to bowl, cheer, socialize and make our first Bowling with Buona Fortuna such a fun event!
